Structural Design & High-Precision Core Requirements

Cosmetic square caps often require complex features like side holes, undercuts, or textures (e.g., press-rotate opening, leakproof sealing), making 4 slides (typically distributed on four sides) necessary for lateral core-pulling.

  • Fit Precision: The clearance between slides and mold sleeves/cores must be controlled within 0.005-0.01mm to avoid flash or burrs. Precision guide pillars (e.g., SUJ2 material) ensure smooth core-pulling/resetting, with repeat positioning accuracy ≤0.003mm.

  • Locking & Foolproof Design: Slides are equipped with precise angle pins (15°-25° tilt) to ensure core-pulling distance error ≤0.02mm. Wear-resistant blocks (e.g., SKD11) and locating pins prevent long-term slide deviation.


Material Selection (Inserts & Mold Body)

Slide/Insert Materials:

  • S136 (Swedish ASSAB): Corrosion-resistant stainless steel, hardened to HRC 50-52. It offers excellent polishability (mirror finish achievable) and is ideal for cosmetics (resistant to alcohol, oils), ensuring no rust over time.

  • NAK80 (pre-hardened): For lower hardness needs (HRC 38-42), pre-hardened steel reduces heat treatment deformation, suitable for complex inserts with good wear resistance and machinability.

  • Auxiliary Wear Parts: Slide guide surfaces and angle pins use SKD11 (HRC 58-60) for enhanced wear resistance.

  • Mold Frame: S50C or 45# steel (quenched/tempered, HB 220-250) ensures overall rigidity, with inserts fixed via bolts for stability under stress.

Processing & Precision Assurance

High-Precision Machining:

  • 5-axis CNC: Shapes slides/inserts with dimensional accuracy ±0.005mm, ensuring angle errors of inclined/core-pulling surfaces ≤0.01°.

  • EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining): Uses mirror EDM for fine undercuts/narrow gaps, achieving surface roughness Ra ≤0.4μm without manual polishing damage.

  • Wire Cutting (Slow Feeding): Processes slide-sleeve mating surfaces with ±0.002mm accuracy for uniform clearance.

  • Heat Treatment: S136 inserts undergo solution treatment (1050℃ quenching) + low-temperature tempering (200℃) to stabilize dimensions and hardness, minimizing post-processing deformation.

  • Precision Grinding: Core-pulling and mating surfaces are ground to flatness ≤0.001mm/100mm for tight fitting.

Assembly & Trial Run:

  • Assemble with dial gauges/micrometers to ensure 4-slide synchronization (error ≤0.01mm).

  • Adjust angle pin length and slide spring force during trial runs to optimize core-pulling speed (preventing product scratches) and verify tolerance/assembly accuracy.


Long-Term Use & Maintenance

  • Regularly apply high-temperature grease to slide guides (for 60-120℃ injection conditions) to reduce wear.

  • Clean insert surfaces after shutdown to avoid corrosion from residual cosmetic ingredients (S136 is corrosion-resistant but needs protection from high-concentration agents long-term).

This combination of corrosion-resistant, high-hardness materials, precision machining (controlling clearance and geometric tolerance), and optimized 4-slide synchronization ensures the cosmetic square cap meets strict appearance and functional stability requirements.
